Job Description / Responsibility
Environmental and Social Safeguards & Climate Resilience Specialist will be responsible to Project Head;
- Provide leadership in integrating environmental and social safeguards into project design and implementation.
- Mainstream Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) and develop project-specific Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).
- Conduct site-level environmental and social risk assessments and ensure mitigation plans are properly implemented.
- Lead training and orientation sessions for project staff, contractors, community members, youth groups, and government stakeholders on safeguard compliance.
- Support community engagement, consultation processes, and grievance redress mechanisms to address safeguard concerns.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and engineering teams to integrate safeguard measures into construction or renovation activities.
- Monitor the implementation of safeguards at the field level and conduct spot checks to ensure compliance with policies and guidelines.
- Prepare regular safeguard reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) with recommended actions, and contribute to M&E and donor reporting.
- Promote climate-resilient practices and sustainable adaptation strategies among vulnerable communities.
- Ensure all activities align with national laws and donor safeguard requirements, including environmental, social inclusion, and protection standards.
- Maintain accurate records of safeguard assessments, training, and community feedback for internal and external reviews.
Educational Requirements: Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability Climate Change, Geography, Development Studies, Social Science, or any other relevant subject from any reputed university.
Experience Requirements: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in environmental and social safeguards, climate resilience, or related areas within national/international NGOs or development projects. Proficiency in reporting, monitoring, and capacity-building related to safeguard policies and climate adaptation.

- Computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Respect on gender, PSEA, Safeguarding, code of conduct and cultural diversity
- Committed on response in any humanitarian emergency if necessary
- Able to drive a motorbike with valid motorbike driving license
- Able to operate virtual platform like Skype/Zoom/Team etc.
