Shushilan, a national reputed NGO is implementing a project entitled “Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Project Bangladesh” with technical and financial support from FHI 360. Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project is a global project funded by the US Department of State and the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), that provides strategic technical assistance and direct service delivery to strengthen Global Health Security (GHS), including outbreak response; improve maternal and child health (MCH), and promote health systems strengthening (HSS) including supply chain management.  EpiC is led by FHI 360 with it’s implementation partners including Shushilan working in seven districts of Bangladesh where Shushilan is working in Jashore and Satkhira district. Shushilan is inviting application from the qualified and interested candidates for the following position.

Job Description / Responsibility

  • Technical Specialist will report to Project Manager;
  • S/he will responsible for planning and implementation of health emergency preparedness, prevention and response under the guidance of Project Manager, and Technical Persons of FHI 360.
  • S/he will responsible to provide training/orientation and technical guidance to field staff for efficient and smooth implementation
  • S/he will responsible to enhance access to evidence-based, accurate, timely, and culturally appropriate health information on disease prevention and promotion of protective behaviors and community engagement for populations at high risk during public health emergencies and disease outbreaks.
  • S/he will strengthen health security by leveraging MNCHN service delivery platforms to promote protective behaviors and sustain essential MNCHN service utilization.
  • S/he will strengthen evidence-based public health messaging and community engagement (EMCE) to promote community trust and community-led preparedness, resilience and response during health emergencies.
  • S/he will strengthen cross-border disease prevention by improving compliance with screening standards and supporting early reporting and response mechanisms at the source
  • Build strong collaboration with health facilities at District and Upazila level. 
  • Maintain regular liaison and communication with stakeholders and government department especially Department of Health, Department of Livestock, Port Authority etc.
  • S/he will also responsible to facilitate different committees especially Quality Improvement Committees (QICs), Public Health Emergency Operation Center (PHEOC) teams etc at District, Upazila and Port level.
  • Monitor the progress of field activities and take initiative for corrective measures in consultation with Project Manager and FHI 360 representatives;
  • Regular meeting with the project/program staff and provide feedback for improvements;
  • Document the lesson learnt and best practices on field activities;
  • Organize and attend various important training, meeting, seminar, workshop at   upazila and district level;
  • Prepare any guideline, process and tools as per the guidance by FHI 360 representatives and senior management of Shushilan;
  • Respect, maintain and monitor code of conduct practice;
  • All kind of positive motivation to support and response in emergency situation;
  • In addition to that any other duties and responsibilities may assigned by the authority / organization which need to be carried out.

Educational Requirements: At least MBBS.   

Experience Requirements: Minimum of 5 years working experiences in Health, Nutrition, prevention, preparedness and response of disease outbreak and development projects in Bangladesh.  

Age: 30 to 50 year(s)

Additional Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated capacity in project management and technical guidance, with conceptual understanding
  • Strong understanding of key aspects of Health, Nutrition, prevention, preparedness and response of disease outbreak
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking capabilities
  • Team building capacity
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Respect on gender, PSEA, Safeguarding and cultural diversity
  • Committed on response in any humanitarian emergency if necessary
  • Able to operate virtual communication platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.

Salary: BDT 100,000 per month
